Today, after the U.S. Senate passed the Coronavirus aid and stimulus package, U.S. Senate candidate Sara Gideon released the following statement:

“I’m glad to see the Senate was finally able to get something done because people across this country desperately need more relief, hospitals need resources to care for the influx of patients, doctors and nurses need protective equipment, workers need full unemployment benefits, and small businesses need financial support as they deal with COVID-19.”

“The reality is that this bill should have been agreed to days ago. But at a time when hardworking Mainers and Americans are struggling the most, Washington once again gave free rein to special interests and prioritized big corporations.”

“Here in Maine, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents moved quickly to put people first by unanimously passing aid legislation – that’s the kind of leadership we need to see in Washington, especially at a time like this.”
