Following the news of the spread of COVID-19 and the confirmation of the first case in Maine, Sara Gideon released the following statement:

“Protecting the health and safety of our families and communities is our top priority. We will follow the current guidance from the CDC and public health officials and postpone our scheduled events for the foreseeable future. We’ve made meeting Mainers across the state a focus of our campaign, and will resume Suppers with Sara once it is safe to do so.

“We’ll continue to follow the guidance from Governor Mills, the CDC and take all necessary precautions. At the federal level, I hope to see the Senate act immediately to pass legislation that includes free COVID-19 testing, paid sick leave, and food assistance for families in need.”
